The International Centre for Settlement of Investment Disputes (ICSID) was established in 1966 under the ICSID Convention to provide facilities for conciliation and arbitration of international investment disputes. ICSID is an autonomous international organization and a member of the World Bank Group, with its headquarters in Washington, D.C. The Centre is widely recognized as the leading international arbitration institution devoted to investor-State dispute settlement.
This year in Model Courts of Justice, ICSID will resolve investment disputes involving state measures and international investors' rights. The tribunal will examine questions of jurisdiction, applicable law, and the balance between state sovereignty and investor protection under international investment agreements.
